Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles

The Zombies are back, and it’s time to take them on, Wii-style!

In Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, you’ll be returning to the terrifying Resident Evil universe, as you fight your way through events and characters from three of the Resident Evil games, including Resident Evil 0, the original Resident Evil, and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.

The environments are primarily in Raccoon City, where RE 2 and 3 took place, but you’ll also have the chance to once again explore the huge mansion from RE 0 and the first RE - plus a new mission at the Umbrella complex.

As you play through the game, you are learning about the last hours of the sinister Umbrella Corporation, and finding out brand new information about all of the Resident Evil games, and finding new sidepaths and objectives.

While Umbrella Chronicles is sometimes referred to as a “light gun game”, meaning it works beautifully with a Wii Zapper or Perfect Shot Gun, it’s also completely possible and in fact easily played through with the standard Wiimote and Nunchuck combo.

The Nunchuck works really well to help you glance all around your surroundings, and the Wiimote is ideally suited to hold straight out and blast those zombies away.

You can even use the Wiimote to not only shake off a zombie who grabs you, but to do a punishing counterattack on it. The first person perspective for the game makes it eerily realistic and lets you view the game’s world in a whole new way.

Your standard weapons include the knife (just swing the Wiimote to slice away), and the handgun, which comes equipped with infinite ammo - but with monsters like these, you’ll want the other strong weapons you can pick up along the way such as the grenades and the machine gun.

You’ll be able to play with many of your favorite characters from all of the RE games, including Jill and Chris Valentine, Rebecca Chambers and Billy Coen.

Even after you finish the game, you’ll want to replay it repeatedly to discover all the secret pathways and hidden items. The two-player co-op mode is a fantastically fun way for you and a friend to battle the undead side by side, and have a great time exploring the game together.

Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles is a chance to see the RE world in a whole new way, and discover all the secrets you’ve always wondered about- and don’t forget to blast away the evil zombies while you’re at it!
